What a beautiful place and peace
Of course, everyone in Thailand claims to have the ideal location, but that is not the case for me. A good trekking location should have good weather, beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, and a friendly community.

Northern location trekking
They have a variety of hill tribe people and many places you can reach by walking. This is the largest area covered in forest and mountainous terrain.
The paths are the same ones that local hill tribes used to travel and go to work on the farm. It is possible to create and continue for a longer trek with multiple days and duration.
And, to say a good location trekking with a beautiful nature and cultural, the weather conditions are the first priority.
Chiang Mai
This city is the center of tourist. There are trekking tours available everywhere, but the most popular are short treks and day trips, such as a half-day tour of Doi Suthep with an elephant show or city tours. The target is not trekking tours. They have a lot of things to do.
Doi Inthanon is a perfect and full option for trekking in Chiang Mai, but it is popular with tourists. Here is a popular trekking spot in Chiang Mai: Chiang Dao, Mae Ta Man – Mae Taeng, Mae Win – Mae Wang, and Doi Inthanon are some of the most well-known names in Thailand.

Chiang Rai
It seems to be pronounced similarly to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. But they are completely different. Chiang Rai province is the northernmost major city in Thailand. Chiang Rai has not much route but possible to do a short trek for beginner and distance around 1-3 days.
There are no connecting routes to add longer distances and more days. It appears to be trekking in a similar area, including visits to waterfalls and hot springs, with the highlight being Lahu and the Akha hill tribe village.
Mae Hong Son
“Absolutely, Mae Hong Son is a good location for trekking in Thailand.” The city is located to the northwest of Chiang Mai. This is a popular for trekkers and who is the nature lovers. The perfect area with a beautiful forest, the spectacular mountain landscapes and culture. But you will have to know how is far from where and how to get there.
A beautiful place and peace where there is jungle in its deepest.
Umphang
One of Tak province’s districts (south of Mae Hong Son). The Thi Lo Su Waterfall is claimed to be the largest and highest waterfall in Thailand. When I had enough money, I would definitely go to Umphang and see the large Wildlife Sanctuary in the North-West.

North Eastern / Central / Western
Phu Kradueng National Park in Loei province. The highlight is the gorgeous forest and rocky vantage point. Tourists from Thailand flock to this location.
Khao Yai National Park is in Nakhon Ratchasima province. This is the first national park in Thailand and has a lot of wildlife. The highest is 1,351 metres.
Petchaburi and Kanchanaburi are only two provinces that have trekking areas far away from town. It’s also a popular destination for Thai visitors.
Southern
Marine Park has the most area. You can combine a half-day or full-day trek with kayaking, cycling, or an ATV adventure in Krabi and Phang-nga.
Khao Luang National Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat province is mountainous, with many tall peaks along its range. The heaviest rainfall fell between December and January. The longer rainy season lasts 6 months from September to February.
Khao Sok National Park (pronounced kʰǎw sòk) is in Surat Thani province, next to Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Finally location to trekking
There appear to be numerous trekking locations in Thailand. Most of the trails are in the National Park. The forestry officer provides trekking in the National Park, and the government creates and organizes walking trails.
You will make contact on your own and make a reservation in advance. Tourists must provide their own food, water, and other necessities. Please request the staff, who should be able to communicate in English. It is not well-known among foreign visitors, and I dislike trekking in national parks.
I enjoy doing things with the locals or villagers, such as walking in the real nature path with our management, which gives the impression that we are free of many rules. We are not breaking the law, but we will keep the environment as it is.

Only a few areas in the north are self-contained. Doi Chiang Dao (a district in northern Chiang Mai province) is a recommended trekking area with a beautiful forest. Trekking in Mae Hong Som would be better if you have more days and are planning a long trip. You can contact any travel agency you found on the internet or make a reservation here.
Most tourists do trekking and adventure activities in the north to save money while traveling, and then return to the south for the final two weeks to relax and enjoy the sea, sun, and sand.
