What a beautiful place and peace in Thailand
The good location to trekking has a varily tropical forest and climate are different in Thailand. The distance from north to south points of the mainland is 1650 kilometers. Thailand divided into six geographical regions, based on natural features including landforms and as well as cultural patterns.
They have many many places you can reach by walking and consist vary hill tribe people. This is a biggest area cover with the forest and mountainous. The routes are the real walking path by local hill tribe use to travel and go for working in the farm. It can be create and continue for longer trip with multiple days and duration to walk. And the weather conditions is the first priority to trekking here with a beautiful nature and cultural.
This city is the center of tourist. You will find trekking tours everywhere but the most is a short trek and a pity trip such as half-day around Doi Suthep with the elephant show or city tours. The target is not trekking tours. They have a lot of things to do. For trekking in Chiang Mai has Doi Inthanon is perfect and full option but many tourist. Here is a popurlar zone to trekking in Chiang Mai : Chiang Dao, Mae Ta Man – Mae Taeng, Mae Win – Mae Wang and Doi Inthanon.
It seems to be pronounced similarly Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. But they are completely different. Chiang Rai province is the northernmost major city in Thailand. Chiang Rai has not much route but possible to do a short trek for beginner and distance around 1-3 days. There are no connecting routes to add longer distance and more days. It look like to trekking similar area, go to waterfall, hot springs and the highlight is Lahu and Akha hill tribe village very interested.
Mae Hong Son
I can say “Absolutely, a good location to trekking in Thailand one is Mae Hong Son”. The city where the located on the northwest Chiang Mai. This is a popular for trekkers and who is the nature lovers. The perfect area with a beautiful forest, the spectacular mountain landscapes and culture. But you will have to know how is far from where and how to get there.
A beautiful place and peace where is jungle in the deepest.
One of district in Tak province. (in the south of Mae Hong Son.) The Thi Lo Su Waterfall is claimed to be the largest and highest waterfall in Thailand.
Phu Kradueng National Park in Loei province. It’s beautifull forest and rocky viewpoint is the highlight. Very popular for Thai tourist.
Khao Yai National Park in in Nakhon Ratchasima province. This is the first National Park of Thailand and have many wildlife. The highest is 1,351 metres.
Petchaburi and Kan Chanaburi only 2 provinces treking area far away from town. It’s also popular for Thai tourist.
The most area is Marine Park. You will find a short trek tour in Krabi and Phang nga for half-day of full day combined with kayaking, cycling or ATV adventure.
Nakhon Si Thammarat province has Khao Luang National Park is mountainous with many tall peaks along its range. The heaviest rainfall between December and January. The longer rainy season 6 months from September to Febuary.
Khao Sok National Park (pronounced kʰǎw sòk) is in Surat Thani province next to Nakhon Si Thammarat.
It seem to be a lot of location to trekking in Thailand. The most trails are in National Park. Provider trekking in National Park running by the forestry officer and walking trail is making and organize by goverment. You will have contact by your own and booking in advance. The tourist have to prepare foods, water and more things by your own. Please request for the staffs, they should be speaking English.
It’s not popular for foreign tourists and I don’t like to trekking in National Park. I love to doing with the local people or villager where we walk in the real nature path by our management that it seem to be we have a freedom from many rules. We are not breaking the law but we will preserve the nature by the way they are.
Just only some area in northern being independent. Recommended trekking area in Chiang Dao (a district in the north Chiang Mai province) that is very nice forest. And if you have more days and planning a big trip, trekking in Mae Hong Som would be better. You can contact any travel agency that you found on internet or booking here.
Most tourist do trekking and adventure activities in the north because the price is fairly well and save money while traveling and then when move to south for the last 2 weeks remaining, you only stay on the beach and spending a time enjoy the sea sun sand.
